Veterinary emergencies: the assistant spots and transfers, your team treats
When a caller describes an emergency, AlloVet transfers the call straight away to the number you chose. It never gives medical advice.
How it works
- 1
You choose the situations and the number
Together we define the situations to treat as urgent (for example: bleeding, seizures, trouble breathing, poisoning) and the number to transfer to: the clinic, the vet on call or a partner emergency service.
- 2
The assistant listens
During the call, if the caller describes one of these situations, the assistant spots it.
- 3
Immediate transfer
The assistant tells the caller it is transferring them, then transfers the call straight away to the chosen number.
- 4
A record in the portal
The call shows up in the portal, marked as an emergency, with its transcript and summary.
What the assistant never does
- Make a diagnosis
- Give medical advice or treatment
- Decide on its own how serious it is: it follows the instructions your clinic approved
- Replace your on-call service

Your clinic stays in control
What the assistant says to callers and the list of urgent situations are approved by your clinic before going live. You can have them changed by contacting us.
Why a transfer rather than advice
On the phone, only a vet can judge an emergency. So the assistant does not try to reassure or advise: it puts the caller in touch with your team as fast as possible.

Emergency questions
Can the assistant get it wrong?
Yes. Like any automatic detection, it can miss an emergency described in other words, or transfer a call that was not urgent. That is why the list of situations is defined with you, and every call stays available in the portal.
Which number is the call transferred to?
The number you choose: the clinic's, an on-call mobile or a partner emergency service.
Does the caller know they are talking to an AI?
Yes. The assistant says so at the start of every call.
Does the assistant give first-aid advice while waiting?
No. It gives no medical advice. It transfers the call to your team.
